About:
The Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) is a non-profit charitable organisation, established in February 1996 by Dr Gordon Ku, a kidney specialist. KDF provides subsidised dialysis treatment to needy members of our community so that these patients will not be deprived of treatment due to financial difficulties and support research for a cure for kidney diseases. Patients needing treatment from KDF are referred by the medical social workers in the restructured hospitals.
Activities:
Medical Programmes: Subsidised Dialysis Programme (Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis Programme), Subsidised Medications Programme, Share a Life Programme, High Dependency Dialysis Programme
Beneficiaries:
The patients at KDF come from the lowest 10% of the income group. Due to their illness, finding employment is difficult. Most of them are dependent on their families for financial support or if employed, hold jobs such as cleaners, hawker assistants or drivers etc.
