Impact of Volunteering
· Students not involved in community work will not be able to understand their community and issues in the society.
o Communities suffering due to the growth of secular societies but expanding gap can be bridged through volunteering
o Essential for students to know their environment as they can make a contribution to it in the future, and this could influence their future decision making.
· No chance to interact with needy may cause failure to realise how fortunate one is. One will also be less likely to help them
· Ad-hoc volunteering is not as beneficial as regular volunteering. Regular volunteering can:
o Improve job prospects and employability
o
Provide opportunity to test career choice, training and development
o Build links with organisations
